Wow, one year already? Let’s look back at some of the highlights, who I’ve met and things I’ve seen.
Oppo Meets
Over the past year I’ve met 23 people from Jalopnik and Oppo including one FP writer. It’s funny because I have yet to meet Haadoke who is the closest Oppo to me, yet have met Oppo’s from Texas, Colorado, Oregon and Washington.

I’ve attended several races, car shows and other events and taken many, many photos, something that many of you on Oppo are helping me improve upon all the time. Your tips, tricks and awesome photos really help me strive to take better shots.

And finally, as many of you know (all of you probably), I’ve reconnected with my truck and started the long road to restoration. Thanks for your kind words and interest in my truck’s story.

I’m pretty proud of most of the things that I’ve done/written and have really, really enjoyed the community here and meeting so many of you. Looking forward to the next year ahead.

I checked out your Vancouver Auto Show post, and is that a Civic Hybrid coupe? Even i
f it’s a Canada-only model, I’d never heard of it.

Which car were you talking about? The black one? It’s not a hybrid as far as I know, those wheels are pretty common on Civics of that era up here.

Ohhh. It’s a Canadian trim. Thank you!
Those wheels were only on the Hybrid here. The Hybrid was a sedan model in America.
Those are the wheels DX sedans had in America. Unlike the LX, the DX was super rare. It might’ve been the VP, too, I don’t know.

We had the Hybrid as well, which is somewhat rare (at least where I live), but it’s pretty common for Canada to have different trims than the States.
I know the trim levels for the 2009 Hyundai Accent hatchback I have were named differently and contained different features in the US compared to here!

It was a car in the background of one of your outside photos; it was a c.2008 Civic. Rally confirmed that it was probably just a Canadian DX coupe, not a Civic Hybrid coupe.

Would love to grab a beer with you, however I can’t drive my car in Canada. I installed a Passport 9500ci in my Cayman, jammers/radars are illegal in Canada. Stupid, since the company is based out of Ontario..

I think it's province by province. I don't think you'd have any issues. I know tons of people with the same stuff in their cars.

Feel like you’ve been around longer than that, for some reason. I wish I knew exactly when I started posting on oppo.

Pretty much. I know I joined jalopnik back in 2009, but I can't remember when I stumbled onto Oppo. It was either that year or 2010.

There are two jammers and a radar module mounted on the front of the car. There’s also a single unit mounted over the rear license plate. There’s a rectang u la r window etched into the rear view mirror for status and whatnot, and the control box itself is installed in the ashtray. Alth ough it’s a stealth install you can see components of the system if you’re looking for them . The system costs $1600 U.S. and took m e a long weekend to install, I would not be happy if some over-zealous border agent or cop decided my “illegal system” needed to be seized (and me pay a hefty fine as well).

You probably can't go to virginia either lol. That's a neat system though, I'd much rather do something like that than just have a v1 mounted on the window or whatever. I don't tend to get in trouble for speeding all that often though so I've never considered radar detectors much.

Well, when you drive an “arrest me red” Porsche, you need protection from the cops. I also rock a nice dashcam in the event I get pulled over.

Haha yeah Miata with approximately zero horsepower makes it easy to not speed too much. And while I also have an STi, the spoiler delete and rental car white help it fly under the radar a bit more. What influenced you to not just use a v1 and call it a day?

V1's are very annoying, they chirp constantly. The 9500ci learns false signals and blocks them out automatically . Also, I wanted a jammer as it gives me great joy to drive past cops, their arm extended and dumb toy guns trying to read my speed. The 14 year old in me finds this gratifying
